The Columbus wrestlers traveled to East Marshall for a triangular dual with East Marshall and Dike- New Hartford Thursday night. In the opening dual of the evening, the Sailors started off red hot against the East Marshall Mustangs. The Sailors earned falls from Max Magayna, Mason Knipp, Connor Knudtson, and Carter Seilger in the opening four matches to jump out to an early 24-0 lead. At heavyweight, Seilger recorded a fall in just 10 seconds which is the fastest fall on the year for the Sailors up to this point. A pair of decisions and a fall would be all the further team points that the Sailors needed to close out the dual with a 48-28 win.
The second dual of the evening did not go the Sailors way as they are defeated by Dike-New Hartford 48-12. Winning matches for the Sailors were Gavin Reed and Jonathan Hackett.
Gavin Reed continued his solid run of form in the second half of the season, going 2-0 on the evening. Gavin won both of his matches by first period pin.
The Sailors are back in action this weekend with a pair of Saturday Tournaments. JV wrestlers will be in Independence along with close to 80 other teams. Varsity wrestlers will be in Hudson for the Hudson Invitational. Weather permitting for both of these tournaments.
